Friday - Headed Home!

Image
We woke up to a light dusting of snow and slightly warmer temperatures than yesterday. After build your own breakfast sandwiches and cereal buffet, students played in a game of predator and prey exploring the relationships between animals in the food chain. It was a hit! Presently, we are on the buses headed home with many stories to share and memories to keep. See you soon!

Thursday Afternoon

Greetings from the north! Today has been an exceptional day of fun, exercise and personal growth. Students are settling into life at camp very well. They all have special stories to share with you and we look forward to them being shared tomorrow afternoon when they see you! The activities today have been learning how to use a map and compass and outdoor survival. Tonight we will enjoy a presentation about wolves and our closing campfire where we see skits by our beloved Widji group leaders.  Everyone is getting enough food and water too! Pictures are slow to upload so thank you in advance for your patience.  Until tomorrow… Team Widji

Thursday Morning

Last night offered crips and clear skies for our night hike. Shooting stars were spotted and s'mores were had by many. We awoke - mostly refreshed - to another clear day. Many even remembered to brush their teeth. After breakfast of eggs, coffee cake, sausage, fruit and cereal buffet, students had a few moments of down time to play before heading to study groups for wilderness survival and map and compass activities. More to come...

Widji Wednesday!

We've arrived at Widji safe and sound! Students have checked into their cabins and then ate a hearty lunch of chicken and wild rice/vegetarian/vegan soup, home made bread, chips and fruit. We are now meeting our study group, getting to know new friends from the other campus and exploring the camp. This afternoon students will have activities in their study group, and a night hike after dinner.

Covid Letter (Previously Emailed)

Dear fourth grade parents/guardians, The countdown to Widji continues!  On Monday, your child will bring a rapid antigen test home from school. On the evening of Tuesday, March 8, please administer a rapid antigen test to your child. After the test is complete, please annotate the test card with your student’s name and the date (or place a piece of paper next to the test with their name and the date). Take a photo of the negative test. When you drop off your child on Wednesday morning,  please bring the photo of the negative test (a picture on your phone is perfect) as part of the check-in process. Frequently Asked Questions - The rapid antigen test replaces the need for a PCR test. Blake does not require that your child take a PCR test. - Some students will receive a brand of rapid antigen test called "BD Veritor." This test requires a smartphone to display results. If you do not have access to a smartphone, please contact Brenda Anderson or Monica Anderson...

Almost Widji!

Dear Fourth Grade Parents and Families, Our overnight trip to Camp Widjiwagan is this coming Wednesday! We are excited to spend time with your child exploring northern Minnesota and sharing experiences outside of the classroom! This blog will be a place where you can follow some of what we're doing while we are up at camp. There is separate post that has a link to a shared photo album that we will contribute to as we are able. Internet and upload speeds are slow at camp and we will compile all our photos into the album when we return. We depart from the  Upper School Campus (511 Kenwood Pkwy, Minneapolis, MN 55403) at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9th.  Please ensure that your child arrives around 6:30 a.m. so that we will have time to load belongings onto the bus and get settled before we leave. Look for the four big coach buses when you arrive. It would be a good idea if your child had a hearty breakfast that morning. Snacks will be provided for students on the bus, pl...
