Almost Widji!
Dear Fourth Grade Parents and Families,
Our overnight trip to Camp Widjiwagan is this coming Wednesday! We are excited to spend time with your child exploring northern Minnesota and sharing experiences outside of the classroom!
This blog will be a place where you can follow some of what we're doing while we are up at camp. There is separate post that has a link to a shared photo album that we will contribute to as we are able. Internet and upload speeds are slow at camp and we will compile all our photos into the album when we return.
We depart from the Upper School Campus (511 Kenwood Pkwy, Minneapolis, MN 55403) at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9th. Please ensure that your child arrives around 6:30 a.m. so that we will have time to load belongings onto the bus and get settled before we leave. Look for the four big coach buses when you arrive. It would be a good idea if your child had a hearty breakfast that morning. Snacks will be provided for students on the bus, please leave all food at home. Students should have a carry-on backpack with travel games, water bottle with water, and any other items they'd like with them for the ride. Large bags and suitcases will be stowed underneath the bus and not accessible on the drive. We will return to the Upper School Campus around 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 11th. An electronic notification will be sent once we leave camp to inform you of our expected return time.
In the event that you must contact your child during our trip, you may do so via email to dquinn@blakeschool.org. Should there be an emergency, please contact Camp Widjiwagan directly. the phone number is (218) 365-2117.
If you need to send medication to camp with your child or anticipate your child will need medication, please indicate on the health history form and contact your child's classroom teacher ahead of time. In addition, please label any medication clearly with your child's name, detailed instructions, and place it in a sealed plastic bag. Give this bag to your child's teacher upon arrival on Wednesday morning. We will return the medication to you on Friday upon our return.
It is still quite cold up north, and our three day outlook has highs in the low to mid teens and lows just below zero. There is still a significant snow pack and we are planning on winter activities. Make sure your child packs appropriately. Extra socks, pants, and mittens are a good idea.
Happy Packing!
